Soy Candles

Everything You Need to Know

Whether you're new to soy candles or a seasoned enthusiast, we're here to answer all your burning questions. From the benefits of choosing soy over traditional paraffin wax to tips on how to make your candle last longer, we've got you covered.

What are soy candles made from?

Soy candles are made from 100% natural soy wax, which is derived from soybeans. This makes them a renewable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly alternative to paraffin wax candles.

Why choose soy candles over paraffin candles?

Soy candles burn cleaner, producing little to no soot, while paraffin candles release toxins and black smoke into the air. Additionally, soy wax burns at a lower temperature, making your candle last longer and allowing the fragrance to disperse more evenly.

Are soy candles pet- and kid-friendly?

Yes! Soy candles are a safer option for homes with pets and children because they do not contain harmful toxins or pollutants. Unlike paraffin candles, which can release chemicals into the air, soy wax burns cleanly, reducing the risk of irritation for sensitive noses. However, always keep candles out of reach of pets and children and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Do soy candles have a strong scent throw?

Yes! Soy wax holds fragrance well, providing a consistent scent throw both when the candle is unlit (cold throw) and while burning (hot throw). This ensures a long-lasting, enjoyable fragrance without being overpowering.

Are soy candles safe for people with allergies or sensitivities?

Absolutely! Soy candles are free from harmful chemicals, making them a great choice for those with sensitivities. They also burn cleaner, reducing indoor air pollution and allergens.

Are soy candles environmentally friendly?

Yes! Soy wax is plant-based, biodegradable, and sourced from a renewable crop. It’s a sustainable alternative to paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum.

About Soy Candles
The Eco-Friendly Choice

How long should I burn my soy candle for?

For the first burn, allow the candle to melt evenly across the top to the edge of your candle jar to prevent tunnelling. This usually takes about 2–3 hours. For best results, avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time.

Why should I trim the wick?

A longer wick can cause a high flame and excessive flickering making the wax burn hotter and faster. Trimming the wick to about 1/4 inch before each burn helps prevent soot, ensures an even burn, and extends the life of your candle.

Why is my candle tunneling, and how can I fix it?

Tunneling happens when the wax burns straight down the middle, leaving wax along the sides. To prevent this, always allow the wax to melt to the edges of the jar on the first burn. If tunneling has already occurred, try wrapping the candle in aluminum foil while burning to help melt the remaining wax.

Is there a way to make my candle last longer?

Yes! Burn your candle in a draft-free area, trim the wick regularly, and follow the recommended burn time. Extinguishing the flame properly (instead of blowing it out) can also help preserve the wick.

What should I do with leftover wax once my candle is finished?

You can repurpose the leftover wax in a wax warmer or reuse the jar for storage, plant pots, or décor. To remove the wax, place the jar in the freezer for a few hours—the wax will pop right out! Or bring it into our store to get your jar refilled, saving you money and keeping your candle jar out of the landfill. Soy wax is easy to clean out with warm soapy water.
